Fine Art & Reproductions

Missy Reno Smith uses only the finest museum quality materials to create her Fine Art Originals and Reproductions. The sections below provide important information about ordering these items.

Gabriel the Wise Edition Plan

Each artwork title intended for Reproduction Prints start with the creation of an Edition Plan. The available print sizes and their allowed number of Standard Editions, Artist Proofs, and Publisher Proofs are established in this plan.

This chart illustrates the Edition Plan for Gabriel the Wise. Limitation is strictly enforced to protect your investment. Once an edition sells out, there will never be another print created in that particular size and substrate.

Fine Art Print Production

The printing of Fine Art Reproductions is a very technical and labor intensive process. We appreciate your patience and we are fully confident you will feel the wait was worth it when you receive your Missy Reno Smith museum quality print.

Materials

Once the Edition Plan is established, Missy chooses the materials that will be used to create the prints. Typically, fine art paper is the chosen substrate for watercolor, ink, and charcoal artworks and canvas is chosen for acrylic and oil artworks. Missy may offer an Open Edition on fine art paper and the Limited Editions on canvas.

Missy uses only the best museum quality materials to create her fine art reproduction prints. If she wouldn't hang it up in her own home, she wouldn't sell it to be hung in anyone else's home. You can read more about the typical materials Missy uses most often below. Please see edition Details for exact materials used in each reproduction.

Canon Lucia Pigment Inks

Canon Lucia Pigment Ink systems, particularly the LUCIA PRO II, are an exceptional choice for producing Missy Reno Smith's fine art reproduction prints, known for their bold and vibrant colors. These inks are designed for professional photographers and artists, offering a wide color gamut, outstanding clarity, and enhanced detail in darker areas, which perfectly complements Missy's dynamic and colorful artworks. The micro-encapsulated pigment inks, combined with a Chroma Optimizer, ensure vibrant color reproduction, improved gloss uniformity, and superior scratch resistance, making prints durable and visually striking. With a formulation that enhances black density on fine art papers, the LUCIA PRO II ink system delivers deep blacks and rich hues, ensuring Missy's bold color palette is faithfully reproduced with museum-grade fidelity and longevity, ideal for gallery exhibitions and archival collections.

Pairing Canon Lucia Pigment Inks with premium fine art papers like Hahnemühle William Turner and Breathing Color Lyve Canvas elevates the quality of Missy’s reproductions to new heights. Hahnemühle William Turner, with its richly textured surface, enhances the tactile and visual depth of the print, while its 100% cotton rag composition ensures archival quality with resistance to fading for well over 100 years. Similarly, Breathing Color Lyve Canvas, known for its consistent weave and bright white finish, amplifies the vibrancy of Missy’s bold colors, providing a durable, gallery-ready surface that maintains color accuracy and resists environmental wear. Together, these materials and Canon’s advanced ink technology create prints that capture the essence of Missy Reno Smith’s vivid artistry, offering collectors and galleries stunning, long-lasting reproductions that preserve the integrity of her work.

Fine Art Paper by Hahnemühle

Hahnemühle, founded in 1584, is Germany's oldest paper mill and a pioneer in fine art inkjet papers, establishing itself as the market leader since the 1990s. With over 440 years of uninterrupted papermaking tradition, the company is renowned for its high-quality, archival-grade papers used by artists, photographers, and museums worldwide. Their Digital Fine Art Collection offers a range of vegan, acid-free, and lignin-free papers designed for giclée printing, ensuring exceptional color reproduction, deep blacks, and longevity exceeding 100 years. These papers, including cotton-based and mould-made varieties, cater to diverse artistic needs with textures that enhance the visual and tactile quality of reproductions, making them ideal for exhibitions, limited editions, and art collections.

Among Hahnemühle’s offerings, William Turner paper stands out as Missy Reno Smith's favorite for its distinctive watercolor-like texture and archival quality. This 100% cotton, 310 gsm, mould-made paper features a pronounced felt structure that imparts a three-dimensional depth to her giclée prints, ideal for both watercolor and expressive acrylic or oil artwork reproductions. Its premium matte inkjet coating delivers outstanding color accuracy, vivid contrasts, and deep blacks, meeting the highest industry standards. Acid- and lignin-free, William Turner ensures museum-quality durability, making it a top choice for artists like Missy who value its crisp, tactile feel and ability to replicate the richness of her original artworks.

Breathing Color Lyve Canvas

Breathing Color Lyve Canvas, Missy's preferred canvas substrate, is a premium, museum-grade inkjet canvas renowned for its exceptional quality in producing fine art reproduction prints. Its advanced microporous coating and OBA-free (Optical Brightener Agent-free) composition ensure superior resolution, a wide color gamut, and deep Dmax, resulting in vibrant, eye-popping colors and intricate detail capture.

Certified by the Fine Art Trade Guild with Blue Wool certification, Lyve Canvas is archival-grade, offering a display life of over 100 years, and when paired with Canon’s Lucia Pigment Inks, its longevity is enhanced to well over 150 years, making it ideal for museum-quality prints that stand the test of time. The combination of Lyve Canvas and Canon’s Lucia Pigment Inks provides unmatched durability and versatility for Missy's fine art reproductions.

The canvas’ 19 mil, 450 gsm poly-cotton blend offers a robust yet flexible medium that resists cracking or tearing during stretching. It receives a coating of varnish for further UV and scratch protection. Canon’s Lucia Pigment Inks, known for their lightfastness and resistance to fading, complement Lyve’s archival properties, creating prints that maintain their vibrancy and integrity for generations. This pairing, endorsed by the Canon Alliance Partnership Program with testing by the Rochester Institute for Technology, ensures that prints meet the highest standards of permanence and quality, making Lyve Canvas Missy's preferred choice to produce timeless, museum-quality reproductions for her collectors.

Warranty

Missy's Fine Art Reproductions are backed by a warranty.

Your Reproduction is printed with the finest museum quality inks and substrates and these fully archival materials should last well over 150 years without ever fading or cracking when cared properly (see Print Care). If for some reason your print has faded or cracked, please contact us for a replacement.

Print Process

Your Fine Art Giclee Reproduction Edition is custom printed for you upon ordering. This labor intensive production can take up to 1 week and we appreciate your patience during this process.

The prints are created on a special high-definition printer using only the best museum quality pigment inks and substrates. All editions must pass an inspection by Missy's fine art printing partner, a master printer located in the United States, for quality and color matching. Limited Editions are also inspected by Missy, only prints that meet her high quality and color matching standards will be signed and numbered.

Prints on Fine Art Paper by Hahnemühle feature a generous two-inch margin for added stability and protection. Prints should only be handled on the margin to avoid leaving marks on the printed area.

Prints on the Lyve Canvas by Breathing Color receive a special protective top coat which allows them to be hung unframed. They are stretched around 1.5 inch deep stretcher bars. The image is mirrored and wrapped around the bars for a finished look even without a frame. The professionally taped back protects both the print and your wall.

Be sure to scroll down this page or visit our Reproduction Info Page for more information on print handling and care.

Embellishing

Elevate your Limited Edition Print with exquisite touches of texture and shimmer.

For an added fee, Missy will add handpainted embellishments to Limited Editions and Proofs such as textured brushstrokes, highlights, strategic mica shimmer accents, powdered genuine gemstones chosen for their energetic properties, and a special remarque drawing or message on the back of your print. The exact optional embellishments for each edition are listed in its description.

The embellishment process turns your print into a unique work of art that is somewhere between a reproduction and an original. In order to ensure your embellished edition remains extra special and worth the investment, Missy removes the option once 25% of the editions have been ordered with embellishments.*

*The limitation of 25% of the Standard Editions includes all sizes available for any given title. Once that number is reached for all sizes combined, the option is removed for all sizes. This number does not include the Artist Proofs which may be embellished as well.

Framing

Missy Reno Smith offers optional custom framing for her Reproduction Prints. Each available frame package is fully archival to protect your print.

Frames for prints on Fine Art Paper feature 4 or 8 ply archival mats and TruVue Conservation Clear Acrylic Glazing for additional UV protection. Traditional and Floater style frames for canvases have deep rabbets to accommodate the 1.5" thick stretcher bars.

If we do not offer a frame that fits your home decor, we would be happy to create a custom framing package for you. You may Contact Us or use the Order Notes box during checkout to request this service.
